Is your Windows XP fully up to date? Are all your hardware drivers up to date? If you can help by answering some and or all of that, it will give us all a good starting point! Since the MS Answers forums doesn't prompt for any system information when a new question is asked, we know nothing about your system - except it is a Dell laptop with XP Professional. I think Dell makes at least 5 kinds of laptops.

Windows Update will be the main reason. Good to know that the OS isn't as slow as the last part of the installation process where I had to wait for around 5 minutes for one segment of it to load.
